Automatic profile
League creation only asks for the event. Its scoring profile is applied automatically, and scoring is global: every private league playing the same event uses the same ladder, and league owners cannot change it.
Every event stores one immutable, versioned scoring profile. Football never inherits Dota's map ladder, and Dota never receives a football goal-difference rule.
New events are football. Dota is closed for the 2026-2027 season, so no new Dota event can be created — but every finished Dota event keeps the ladder it was scored on, and the Dota rules below are what its standings still mean.
Football predictions use the score after 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shootouts are excluded. With the default base unit of 2, only the single best matching tier is awarded.
Against the room: +1. After the board shuts, we count how many members read each match's outcome correctly. If at most a fifth of them did, every one of them takes an extra point. One in five, so a lone correct caller in a league of five earns it, two in ten earn it, and in a league of four nobody can — a fifth of four is nobody.
It is decided from the outcome only, never the scoreline: everyone who missed the result is one group, however they missed it. If the home side wins and one member called that while two called a draw and two called the away side, the four who were wrong are one group and the one who was right stands against all of them.
Two things follow from this and are worth knowing before you play. Your points depend on what other members wrote, which you cannot see while the board is open. And the same call can pay differently in two leagues. A call that got the outcome wrong earns nothing however lonely it was, and the point is never multiplied by a match or stage weight.
In a knockout tie this means the score at the end of normal time. A semi-final level at 1-1 after 90 minutes and won 4-2 on penalties is scored as a 1-1 draw, and a call of 1-1 is exact.
| Tier | Meaning | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Exact score | Both teams' goal totals are correct | 4 pts |
| Goal difference | Winner and goal difference are correct | 3 pts |
| Correct draw | A draw is correct, but the exact score is not | 2 pts |
| Correct outcome | Home or away winner is correct | 2 pts |
| Incorrect | The home / draw / away outcome is wrong | 0 pts |
| Against the room | Added to any tier above: at most a fifth of the members who called this match read its outcome correctly | +1 pt |
TI 2026 scores on the V3 ladder. A BO5 has exactly two outcomes that pay: the right series winner is 3 points at any map score, and the exact map score is 5 — there is no tier in between. A BO3 keeps a close tier: one map out on a 2-1 is a real near miss. Calling the automatic underdog correctly adds 1 point on top of any tier, and there is no cap.
| Tier | Meaning | Points |
|---|---|---|
| BO1 | Correct series winner | 2 pts |
| BO2 exact | All two maps correct, including a 1-1 draw | 3 pts |
| BO3 close | Winner correct, losing map count one away | 3 pts |
| BO3 exact | Winner and complete map score correct | 4 pts |
| BO5 winner | Winner correct, any wrong map score | 3 pts |
| BO5 exact | Winner and complete map score correct | 5 pts |
| Underdog bonus | Automatic underdog called correctly, added to any tier | +1 pt |
| Incorrect | Series winner incorrect | 0 pts |
Earlier events keep the ladder they were played under. V1 events keep their legacy BO1, BO3, and BO5 ladder; V2 events use the 2 / 3 / 4 progression below with a 4-point cap. A BO2 may finish 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2; only the exact full score earns points. Football goal-difference logic is never applied to Dota.
| Tier | Meaning | Points |
|---|---|---|
| BO1 | Correct series winner | 2 pts |
| BO2 exact | All two maps correct, including a 1-1 draw | 3 pts |
| BO3 winner | Winner correct, map score incorrect | 2 pts |
| BO3 exact | Winner and complete map score correct | 3 pts |
| BO5 winner | Winner correct, losing map count two away | 2 pts |
| BO5 close | Winner correct, losing map count one away | 3 pts |
| BO5 exact | Winner and complete map score correct | 4 pts |
| BO5 exact underdog | Exact score and automatic underdog winner both correct | 5 pts |
| Incorrect | Series winner incorrect | 0 pts |
League creation only asks for the event. Its scoring profile is applied automatically, and scoring is global: every private league playing the same event uses the same ladder, and league owners cannot change it.
The event operator may weight a stage or a single match. Stage and match weights combine up to a maximum effective 2×, then the result is rounded once. Under V2 the final award is capped at 4 points, with an exact BO5 underdog call as the sole 5-point exception; V3 has no cap and adds the underdog bonus on top.
Match predictions stay editable until 15 minutes before kickoff and lock when server time reaches that deadline. Result entry opens at the scheduled kickoff, and the server rechecks the current event profile before every write.
For the duration of TI 2026, a match you could have called and did not is worth 1 point. It applies only where the call was actually available to you: a fixture published after its own deadline — which happens when Valve chains a Swiss round onto the end of the previous one — was never callable by anyone and pays nothing, and neither does a match that locked before you joined the league.
This is here because the prediction centre opened on a single round while a tournament day is published as two kickoff groups, so members arrived to half the day's matches and a page that looked complete. The points make up for calls lost to that, not for calls anyone chose to skip.
Nigma Galaxy beat Team Spirit on 15 August 2026 as a genuine outsider — the ratings had them 100 points or more apart, well past the threshold the bonus needs. No price was ever recorded against that match, because the service that reads the official feed was down through the last day it could have been priced, and a match's odds are frozen once its deadline passes.
So the 1 point that call had earned was not paid at the time. It is paid now, to whoever picked Nigma Galaxy to win that match and only for that match. The failure was ours, and it is not the sort of thing a member should absorb.
This does not extend to other matches. Most fixtures carry no price because no side was a qualifying underdog, and for the rest the ratings that stood on the day were never stored, so there is no honest way to work out afterwards which ones would have paid.
Team and text bonus questions keep their configured point value. They are global to the event but every prediction and awarded point remains scoped to one private league.
Each correctly placed team on the 16-team Swiss board earns 4 points. Every team must be used exactly once across the six record categories, making a perfect board worth 64 points.
Place all 16 teams into the nine finishing bands, from champion down to 16th. Each team landing in its correct band earns 2 points, so a perfect board is worth 32. Within a shared band the order does not matter. The board locks together with the Swiss board, before the first match of the event.
Before the Main Event begins, predict every winner in the full Upper and Lower bracket. Every correctly predicted winner earns 4 fixed bonus points, regardless of round. The 14-box bracket locks as one unit before the first playoff series and is worth 56 points when perfect. Day-by-day match-score predictions remain separate.
A badge is kept for finishing in the top 3 of a league. It appears on your profile, and beside your name in the standings of your other leagues — what you kept from past events, carried into the one you are playing now. It is not shown in the standings of the league it was won in, because the rank column there already says it. Four conditions, all of them required: the event has finished, the league holds at least 5 members, you placed in the top 3, and at least one of your calls in that league was scored. Getting them all wrong still counts as having played; never calling anything does not.
Members level on points share a place, exactly as the standings show them — two in second means nobody is third, and everyone level in the top 3 keeps a badge.
Badges are worked out from the standings every time they are shown rather than stored, which has two consequences worth knowing before they surprise you: leaving a league gives up its badge, because the place was a fact about being in it; and a league that falls below 5 members stops awarding them. What the standings say and what a badge says can never disagree.
Other members see the tournament and the place. They do not see which league you won it in — every league here is private, and naming one to a different group would say it exists.
A team counts as the underdog when it sits more than 100 rating points below its opponent, and calling it to win adds 1 point. Under V3 the bonus stacks on any tier, so an exact BO5 underdog call pays 6; under V2 it only lifts an exact BO5 to 5.
Ratings come from the Glicko-2 team ranking published by Liquipedia, used under CC-BY-SA 3.0. A qualifier the ranking does not list is treated as 1450, the same figure for every unlisted team. The rating is captured and frozen before the prediction deadline, so a later move cannot change a bonus you have already played for. No rating means no bonus. Participant popularity does not change the score.
Two teams are the exception, and they are labelled wherever their rating decides a bonus: the league operator set 1w Team and L1GA by hand, because 1w competes with a changed roster that the published rating still scores as the old one. Every other rating on this event comes from the ranking above, untouched.
